WHY COLLABORATE????
I have found from the very first Art Installation that as a collaborator there is so much more creativity generated when all the participants have a strong commitment to creating something they personally want to express and be proud of. We all want to share our visions with others but sometimes the scope of our visions takes a lot of energy in many forms. When 3 or 4 come together the workload is easily shared and ideas flourish.
Through my first collaboration I learned the very important motto. TRUST THE PROCESS
I have also learned to be specific in what each person wants and can bring to the table besides the obvious art form they are collaborating on.
This form of expansion helps to produce Art Installations of EPIC success and beauty.
It is about
Connection
Respect
Trust
and Satisfaction.
This is what I shared after 2016 TRANSIENT BODIES, with a perspective collaborator.
My thoughts have been aimed at a collaborative energy of several individual , who like the Transient Body collaborations work with a theme , and idea and each person develops that theme in their own creative way to form a cohesive whole. Transient Bodies had the theme of the Mexican Day of the Dead., Each collaborator was encouraged to develop ( in this case) thru dance ,movement, and ritual, an artistic expression within those parameters. We then came together with artistic direction of Patricia Rincon who wove these pieces into one "story" . In this next vision of a collaboration under the performing art umbrella Danza Vida ( which is my performing art identity) I envision a multidisciplinary art happening centering around the human art installation techniques which I find exciting. Dance, Movement, Storytelling , song. photography. all woven together around one theme. MONARCHS in this case.
If presenting your images as one element of several would excite you then we can continue conversations, which would include what talents you could bring to the table besides the obvious one of photography.
Art Happenings such as Transient Bodies take a tremendous amount of various talents.
I am not particularly looking for this scale of art happening in the near future but would welcome a lesser adventure.
Money is not the main goal but in all my installations costs must be covered and that is NOT my forte although in this past collaborative we mustered the required know hows to cover costs.
I do think that it is important that each of the collaborators have clarity as to WHY they are drawn to express in this particular way. and be absolutely clear what talents they can offer .
Transient Bodies drew dancers and creatives who LOVED the idea of the Day of the Dead and the opportunity to create something magical around it.
There must be a drive to work together with others towards a goal of mutual satisfaction.
So I hope that clarifies what my ideas as Danza Vida and a performance art are
and what any of my future projects move towards.
Collaborations are like marriages . They take commitment , excitement, respect, talent and a whole lot of focus.
The rewards are also great as you can ask any of the 30 people involved in Transient Bodies.
This is Danza Vida and this is WHAT EXCITES ME
My main goals are in integrating the cultures, allowing artists opportunities to get to know and work with each other and being of high integrity to the project and all involved. What is produced as an art happening will reflect this integrity .
